The Russian people have always used their indigenous martial arts to defend their homes, family and borders. These systems were substituted by the communists with Sambo, a martial art based on oriental martial arts and slavic wrestling.
Traditional systems were retained by the government of the time to be taught to the top special forces troops (Spetsnaz) and the majority of the population forgot of their martial heritage.
Since the fall of the Iron Curtain a unique opportunity to train in a Russian Martial Art practiced by members of one of Russia’s elite special forces units has become available to the general public.
Colonel Michael Ryabko has the permission of the Russian Justice Minister to set up a Russian Martial Arts Federation that teaches the traditional martial arts to the general population of Russia and the rest of the World.
